Listen to The Other Half Now

Good News! I spoke with the current curator of Rodgers and Hammerstein Archives of Recorded Sound, Jonathan Hiam, and The Other Half is available! You can listen to recordings of Tomcat on The Other Half by using your NYC public library card. Mr. Hiam graciously explained that archiving the recordings takes time and with cutbacks in staff processing The Other Half has taken a little longer than usual. He said that last spring some people listened to the tapes at the archives. I wonder who? Also, The Other Half should be listed in the catalogue. I will have to check that out. Please leave messages if you have listened to the show. Let's keep the spirit of Tomcat Mahoney alive!

UPDATE

Rodgers and Hammerstein Archives of Recorded Sound have not yet fully archived The Other Half. The former curator, Sara Velez, was committed to publishing Tomcat's show and his drawings. The current curator is not moving forward with this. I donated all of the original tapes to the archives in 2008 and we're still waiting for the show to be accessible to the public.

Damages Tangle @ Theater for the New City

Suspended Youth, a group of actors from Purchase College Conservatory of Theater Arts, will be performing an original play, Damages Tangle, written by Purchase actor, Julien Melendez. The play, based on the Greek Daedalus myths, tells the story of Daedalus, a complex character working through all of his various roles as inventor, brother, lover, traveler and uncle; seeking the impossible, sinning to get it, earning punishment and discovering redemption, Daedalus is an unforgettable force surrounded by an array of equally complex characters, Perdix, Queen Pasiphae the Jester, King Minos and Ica and Rus.
